Doesn’t it seem very strange that one of the most important words in the Bible upon which so much hinges is not found translated as “the gospel”, at all, in the “Old Testament”?
Some have called The Gospel the “good news”.
However the phrase “good news” only occurs once in the “New Testament”:
1 Thessalonians 3:6 But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and brought us good news of your faith and love, and that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you—
And guess what? It is just regular old good news between believers. Glad to hear it!
The phrase “good news” occurs a handful of times in the “Old Testament”. Wouldn’t you think something so very important would occur many more times in the writings of the prophets?
Today and in modern times it has been cliché to call The Gospel” the Good News”.
